Great nautical themed occupational shaving mug for the “AUXILIARY YACHT ALOHA,” which was launched in 1910. The mug is personalized in gold leaf, “Wm. G. Turner 1921.” Mr Turner was likely either an owner or officer aboard this famous early 20th century ship. Below is a link to a contemporary NY Times article about the launching of the ship. Among its many voyages, the Aloha sailed across the Pacific to Japan in 1922.

Excellent colorful and detailed painting of the ship covers the entire front of the mug. Faint traces of black wrap on sides. Mug is marked “GERMANY” within a circle in green on base. This is where the blank mug was produced. The artwork and gilding were done in the US, as occupational shaving mugs were not used in other countries.

This is a fantastic historical one-of-a-kind rare occupational shaving mug.
